    2010…

In January, we enjoyed a Meet the Chef tasting menu designed by Ed Giobbi at Table Local Market in Bedford Hills.  The evening high-lighted organic olive oil from Italy, presented by Lorenzo Caponetti, of Casa Caponetti; Lorenzo’s visit was coordinated by Mimi Edelman, of Slow Food Hudson Valley and the farmer behind I&Me Farm.

Also in January, all of Westchester was invited to hear Slow Food USA president Josh Viertel speak at Sarah Lawrence College, as part of the Westchester Land Trust’s Good Land/Good Food sustainability talk series.

In February, we had the honor of co-sponsoring: InterGenerate’s Westchester Community Garden Summit; the Mount Kisco Child Care Center’s Iron Chef-style Whole Grains cook-off; and, KatonahGreen’s pot luck dinner, featuring the photography (and home!) of enviro-photographer J. Henry Fair.

March brought another fabulous KatonahGreen pot luck, this time a brunch presented with (and at) the Bedford Audobon.

April was the year’s busiest month: we co-sponsored the first-ever Local Farmer/Local Chef speed meeting session in Westchester County, at Muscoot Farm; spoke at the Larchmont Mamaroneck Sustainability Expo; hosted another KatonahGreen pot luck, joined forces with the Somers Energy Action Coalition for their Green Week event, and supported a Garden Tool Swap at Gossett’s Nursery in South Salem.

May featured an Edible Weed Walk with herbalist Bonnie Rogers, another tool swap at Gossett’s, and an appearance at the Chappaqua Library for a Sustainability panel.

In June, it was the Grand Opening celebration of Sleepy Hollow’s first community garden, and an afternoon of garden activities: Planting, harvesting, tours of the garden by the Washington Irving School’s Green House Kids, and garden tastings led by Sleepy Hollow High School Senior Ambassadors.  The Sleepy Hollow Community Garden is located behind the 100 College Arms apartment building (between College Avenue and Valley Street).
